Our second project for Airbnb was a little different to the first and involved organising an event in Rome for over 200 Airbnb hosts at the end of October 2015.
The aim of the evening was to celebrate the Airbnb community and share four special stories of hospitality with a group of hosts.
When it came to designing the concept, we wanted to create a relaxed environment where the guests would feel at home, but we also wanted to make sure the fun side of the world-famous vacation rental company would come through.
Our event was based on the idea of “The Perfect Host”, so we chose an unusual location with plenty of comfy seating and homely touches, offered some good food and drink, encouraged interaction by creating a corner where guests could share their top tips for hosting, as well as a playful photo area. We also offered some great entertainment in the form of artist Pietro Nicolaucich who worked on a special Airbnb-themed painting during the event. The evening also involved a presentation by celebrity guest Federico Russo and Airbnb Italy’s general manager Matteo Stifanelli, who awarded four hosts with signed prints of Nicolaucich’s work after their stories were featured in videos during the event.
We kept the decorations simple and colourful, with the main focus on a series of bright posters featuring phrases linked to hospitality. We also designed special tags for the hosts’ advice wall, as well as an unconventional press wall/photo booth which included Tonki photos and a big, comfy sofa for guests to relax on.
We really enjoyed the challenge of organising this event and can’t wait to work with Airbnb on some more exciting projects in the future.
